CAMPUS TOUR
Our S.E.E.D. team will greet students upon arrival and group them with their assigned team leader. From there, students will embark on a full day of seeing real-time campus life, with experiences aiming to immerse them in the dynamic culture and resources available at UC Santa Barbara, fostering a sense of empowerment and inspiration for their educational journey.

Campus Facilities
With our dedicated team leaders, students will be led on a tour throughout campus to see facilities that showcase vibrant student life and academic environment. Students will explore the University Center (UCen), a bustling hub of activity offering diverse dining options at the Food Court and essential resources at the Campus Store. They’ll also have the opportunity to visit the state-of-the-art Interactive Learning Pavilion (ILP) and experience the rich academic resources available at the esteemed university library. Additionally, they’ll get a glimpse of freshman dormitories and dining commons, providing insight into campus living and community engagement. Furthermore, students will have the chance to explore various other amenities and resources on campus, including recreational facilities, research centers, student organizations, and cultural landmarks.
EXPERIENCING
REEF Tour
Embark on an immersive journey into marine science at UCSB’s Research Experience & Education Facility, The REEF. Here, they will delve into the wonders of the ocean through interactive touch tanks and cutting-edge aquaria, offering a firsthand “Ocean View of the World.” Under the guidance of knowledgeable staff, students will have the unique opportunity to encounter and learn about fascinating sea creatures, from graceful hares to intricate lobsters and delicate starfish, promoting a deep appreciation for marine life and environmental stewardship.
ENGAGING
Workshops
Students will engage in enriching workshops designed to equip them with essential skills and knowledge to thrive through both college and life. These workshops will focus on various aspects of academic readiness, personal development, and career exploration, tailored to inspire and empower students from low-income minority backgrounds to pursue higher education and achieve their aspirations. Through interactive sessions, students will gain valuable insights, confidence, and motivation to pursue their academic and career goals, nurturing a sense of empowerment and readiness for their educational journey.
COMPETING
Fun Activities
To release energy and bond with their peers, students will engage in fun and energizing activities to foster teamwork, positive connections, and friendly competition. These build camaraderie while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the university campus. Through these experiences, students will not only have a memorable and enjoyable time, but also develop important social skills and a sense of belonging within the S.E.E.D. community.
IMMERSING
Mock Lecture
During the campus visit, students will have the opportunity to attend a mock lecture called the “Physics Circus” in a college lecture hall. Led by engaging instructors, they will witness live physics demonstrations and actively participate in hands-on activities, introducing students to the STEM field and providing a glimpse into the exciting world of higher education as well as inspiring a passion for learning. This immersive experience aims to ignite curiosity, familiarize them with college environments, and empower students to envision themselves as future scholars and leaders.
INSPIRING
Motivational Speaker
Students will have the privilege of hearing from a motivational speaker who will share their personal journey, educational insights, and motivational perspectives on pursuing higher education. Through their inspiring story and success narrative, the speaker will demonstrate that higher education is achievable, regardless of background or circumstances, empowering students to pursue their academic and personal aspirations with confidence and determination. This presentation aims to instill belief in the power of higher education and motivate students to overcome challenges and strive for success in their own educational endeavors.

Student Panel
Through a diverse panel of siblings of Sigma Alpha Zeta members and SEED team members, students will have the opportunity to learn more about different education journeys. These panelists will share their personal experiences and insights into college life, offering valuable advice on overcoming obstacles and achieving success in higher education. Through open dialogue and firsthand accounts, students will gain inspiration, encouragement, and practical guidance to navigate their own educational journeys with strength and resilience.
